Making Our Own Little Chapters

Yesterday, when Cres came home from work he was really pissed because of some unfair crap that happened at his job. He vented for a bit and then we went with his roomie, Bernie, to get some delicious scallion pancakes with egg in the middle from some street vendor. I am slowly but surely trying to learn as much mandarin as possible. We hung out on the home front for a bit and I took a nap before we went to Sway's apt.

We went to Sway's and I met her amazing roomie Amanda and then Jeremy and Max came over, two of my other new and incredible friends. We danced, put on fake eyelashes, made grilled cheese, drank beers, got dressy, watched vids, took a billion pictures and videos, hung out on the roof, danced some more, ate Sway's delicious homemade dumplings, listened to really great music....its nights like these that I can forget all the reasons why life sucks sometimes and just be happy.

P.S.-We made plans to dress up like pirates and go shrimping.

Mother's Day

was fabulous. I woke up and came home from Dani's and lounged around until it was time to get dinner at Four. I went with Boppy, Derek and Patti. The food was beautiful and delicious, however the company was even better. I am really excited that my brother has such a great girl in his life. It's like i got a brand new sister and she's cool as all hell. Wait, that phrase may not have fir there...cause hell is hot, not cool...what I am trying to say is that Patti is awesome, and i couln't pick anyone better for my bro, or to be a new addition to my family.

After dinner, me and boppy finished watching Sibyl. What a crazy story. I can't believe that actually happened to that poor little girl. It really makes me thankful that my mom didn't lock me in a trunk, trip me down the stairs, or give me cold water enemas every morning. LOL how mother's day appropriate.

Ticky Tocky Ticky Tocky Oi Oi Oi!!!

Boppy and I decided to follow the yellow brick road to a touristy German restaurant for dinner. Everyone working there wore traditional garb. It was cute. SOOO much food! WAY too much food. Heavy food. But I kind of felt like i was in Epcot for a minute.

Consumption.

Why is it that we let what we consume define us? Shouldn't we be deeper than that?

Think about it. It works for foods and products. But I think it's more poignant with the foods. You are what you eat, in a cultural context.

The girl who eats a Turkey and Cheese Sandwich every day. The guy who eats a T-bone steak. The teenage girl who's forever sucking on a lollipop. The couple who drink champagne on a daily basis.

Eating is so temporal. Why is it that we define ourselves with something so insignificant to who we are?
