Monday morning Amanda, Max, Cres and I met up for brunch at this really great burger place called Forkers. Afterward, Max, Cres and I went to the Pixar exhibit. It was really interesting to see the processes of animation and how characters and storylines come to life. There was this one part that had a zoetrope which spun really fast with strobe lights to give the optical illusion that the characters were moving, when in fact they were just being spun at rapid speeds. After the exhibit, the three of us were pretty tired and Cres and I went home to watch Coraline. It was an interesting movie, but I don't think it was very cohesive. It was like a stop-animation version of Pan's Labyrinth. I understood what they were trying to do, but I guess I just didn't appreciate it as much as I thought I would. After watching Coraline, we met up with Esteban for Indian food in ShiDa. Esteban is one of those people you just meet and feel an instant love for. We got to talking and I found SO many different ways in which our lives have crossed paths. He used to go to my beach, he grew up off the road I live off now, AND he used to live off the same stop I lived off of in Brooklyn. After some delicious Indian food, Jeremy met up and the 4 of us got some drinks and hung out in the park. Sway and Max met up and we all chilled and talked for a bit. I really, really like all my friends here. It will be hard to leave them. I know I have really wonderful friends back home, and that if I lived here maybe I would see the people here differently, I just have to express that I am really happy and have been really benefiting emotionally from this trip.

Do the Shuffle
Sunday night I went back out to Brooklyn to wish Anna farewell. She is moving back to Canada after a summer in NY. We went to R bar and had really good italian food. Yep, I am pretty bored of Brooklyn bars. They are kind of over rated. Actually, the bar scene in general is kind of dead to me. The only exception is a few places in H-ton (MC's, the Tavern), but just to meet up with people. I really don't actually enjoy bar hopping anymore. I would much rather hang out at someone's house with the people I actually care about or do something else. Anyway, I left the bar kind of early to go home and start packing up my car. I started moving my stuff out of BK and to LI. I cannot wait until I live in one solitary home again. I hate the city in the summer. It is way too hot and there isn't really much to do. Long island is the best for summer.
Anyway, so yeah I came back to LI on Monday for band practice. Lauren came over and we wrote a new song.
After practice, I met up with Julia, Sean and Jackie and we went to some shitty bar out east. Sean and I kicked ass at beer pong and I got way too drunk. I think we all had a lot of fun, but i actually don't remember all of it. I smoked an entire pack of ciggs yesterday. I can't believe I did that. I am not buying anymore packs. I feel disgusting and my breath is so bad.

Sahara East and BCC
Last night Carrie, Anna, Kristen and Jason all came out to the hookah bar for my birthday. We sat out on the back patio/tent, which was pretty neat and almost felt like walking into the saharan desert. We got some hummus, sangria and hookah. It was delish. It was nice to have a little intimate gang of us. After that, we went to BCC and got some slushies. A few more people showed up and I made friends with a guy who has my birthday and is very much like me. It was really strange. We are supposed to go for coffee, but that may have just been me assuming things because I was drunk.

So Naive

After giving away my cat yesterday, I decided that drinking a whole bottle of champagne by myself would be a good idea. I sat in the apartment and sulked and thought about how she is in a better place and that I did the right thing. After putting the remainder of my bottle in a sippy cup for the road, I headed out for PTTV.
I got to the office pretty tipsy, but I don't think anyone had any idea. I facilitated the meeting, pretty well; but it was an abbreviated meeting due to a friend of a member coming in to discuss racial and sexual diversity in our group. I brought up some valid points which needed to be assessed about our missions statement prescribing to educated, middle class individuals. I also noted that in this urban environment, it is difficult to assess that everyone has equal opportunity for enriched education. Most of the people in my collective went to ivy league schools and/or are white. People usually work on topics which pertain to their lives, it is very much, a self fulfilling prophecy. I felt like it took some degree of 'balls' to say all this stuff about race and class, especially being the newest member of my group. I am really proud that it didn't go unsaid though, especially since I am to teach about the importance of race and class in my upcoming job.
After a drunken rant, which was ideally received by my peers, I went out with a couple of members for a beer. Just quickly though, because I had made plans to meet up with Lewis for dinner/drinks. I had a lot of fun talking to him, and I feel so naive for thinking that he just wanted friendship because that's what I was after. He approached me from the friendship angle and I didn't believe he would come onto me, but whatever, I realized last night how dumb I am to think that anyone just wants to be friends with someone of the opposite sex.
I walked out of the bar in somewhat of a frenzied hurry, I had to get out of there because I realized where the night may be headed if I had kept drinking. On my way to find a subway route that connected to where I was going, I asked two random strangers for directions. Little did I know, they were both psychics. One was a tall, handsome, flamboyant, black man with bleach blonde hair, probably in his mid-twenties. The other was an older, shorter, hispanic woman, with big hoop earrings. Both of them said that they had visions of me in a dark red room with huge piles of books, that I should do some work with a pendulum and that I seem like I may have healing powers. We talked astrology in front of the train station which they led me to, for about half an hour. I didn't want to go because our conversation was SO interesting.
After a long train ride, (or long time spent waiting for the train) and having to transfer to a shuttle bus outside of the Lorimer station (UGH), I stopped in the deli downstairs from my house to get a snack. Who should come in right behind me but Jason and his friend Brittany. I had been meaning to meet up with them earlier all night! However, both of our nights had lasted longer than originally planned, so it was weird that we happened to cross paths on the way home.
So yeah. An eventful night. I feel like there should have been a full moon or something.

San Fran's Ready for Me

I am SO excited to go to SF and reunite with my BFF from 2nd grade, Michelle. She told me that her roomies were planning a party for the night I come in, which is perfect for me and Boppy. One of Michelle's roomates is an artist, and made this kick-ass flyer for the 'event'. I'm just pissed I will be on antibiotics tomorrow, and thus really shouldn't drink. But i know i will still have loads of fun! YAY!

Bachelorettes on a Full Moon
Saturday was Dan's bachelorette party. Carrie slept over the night before so that we would be on time the next morning, however we ran into a ridiculous amount of obstacles on our way to Dani's. Once we got there we found out that 2 more girls had yet to appear, go figure, a full moon makes everything more extreme, good or bad.
After Dani nearly had a panic attack the other two youngins showed up, making the head-count 7 and our limo was ready to roll. We popped a cork and told stories on the way there, blasting music and getting silly. We finally arrived at Pindar for our first tasting. We took a bunch of girly pictures and regretted not getting Dani a tiara.
Next we were off to Duckwalk for some more sips of north fork vino. We ate our lunch on the patio and made fun of other people taking the tour. We made a scavenger hunt of types of guys to find and take pictures with, however, this was more of a lofty idea than a realistic happening, as most of the people at the wineries were a) bachelorette parties, b) couples, c) old, or d) ugly. We strutted on, getting sillier and louder as we went.
Next we stopped at another vineyard (its name escapes me) where they had live music and hoards of guys, especially ones in pink shirts. We started talking to some loser with a hemp necklace and Carrie started making fun of me, saying I have friends with blow outs. I responded, and I quote "I have 600 friends on facebook, only ONE has a blow out!!". Yeah, only a drunken Nicole would say that.
Next we were off to another winery with more live music and horses. We stumbled around there for a few and then we got back in the limo and headed back to Dani's. The singing in the car was phenomenal. I really miss blasting girly music with a bunch of girls and singing at the top of my lungs. NYC transportation doesn't allow me this luxury.
An exciting bit of news. One of Dani's bridesmaids, Karyn, pretty much gave me a job teaching at Briarcliffe. I am so excited. This will give me excellent experience to throw on my resume, I am kind of nervous, but I know it will be a good step in the right direction. The only thing bugging me is that it is on Long Island and I sort of have an obligation to my apt in BK. She was saying stuff about teaching a class online. So I guess I could probably teach 2 classes over the summer or something. One online and the other in person, this would afford me only two days of commuting to LI.
We got back to dani's and there were two huge platters of sushi with all the trimmings waiting for us. We gobbled them down and started watching 'Bride Wars', quite possibly the perfect movie for the occasion. Lauren made the most delicious pie with cookie crumbles and a lot of alcohol (it was sOO good). After watching an hour of the movie, the Passion Party lady showed up. She reminded me of a mix of Boppy and June, so I automatically felt comfortable. We played some games, one of which required sort of musical chairs with no chairs but a dildo that you had to pass around in a circle with your knees. It was silly. I won!
After the passion party, I noticed a weird feeling in my mouth. Turns out I chipped my tooth on something. I called my uncle and now I have to go back up to Maine asap so that I don't get a cavity.
OH full moons what would I do without you?!

Some Like It Hot.

Yesterday was spent nursing my hang over with chinese food and movies. Carrie brought over 'Some Like It Hot' and later on Kim came over. We went to the 'Lazy Catfish' for free beers. We met up with Evan and the boys from down the block. PJ drank my last beer before the free beers ended and then tried to ditch, I chased after him and fell on my ass. What a jerk.
At around 11, we made a trek into the city to a bar by Evan's apt, then we got really greasy food at papaya dog and hung out at Evan's. Kim and Evan hit it off like I knew they would. I am pretty stoked. I am such a sweet matchmaker.
I really don't feel like going to school today. I need to not drink on school nights.
Also, I really like dorky, oversized reading glasses. I may need to invest in some.
